Who founded C.P. Company

The brand's own site says Italian designer Massimo Osti founded Chester Perry in 1971, a brand best known for its screen-printed T-shirts, and that it was renamed C.P. Company in 1978. Wikipedia and MAM-e also give 1971 and Bologna. Archivio85 instead says the brand was established in 1975, a date that conflicts with the other sources.

Wikipedia says the name Chester Perry was suggested by fashion entrepreneur Corrado Zannoni, and that it was changed in 1978 after legal action from Chester Barrie and Fred Perry.

Who owns C.P. Company

Wikipedia says Osti sold the company to GFT (Gruppo Finanziario Tessile) in 1984 and stayed as a designer until 1994. MAM-e says Carlo Rivetti and his sister Cristina acquired control of the company in 1993, later renamed Sportswear Company, which owned both C.P. Company and Stone Island.

MAM-e says Sportswear Company separated the two brands and sold C.P. Company in 2010 to FGF Industry, a company led by Enzo Fusco, and that in December 2015 FGF sold it to Tristate Holdings Limited, a Hong Kong-based group. We did not find a more recent source on who owns the brand.

What C.P. Company makes

Common Cultured lists the Mille Miglia jacket, also known as the Goggle jacket, under 1988, with two clear lenses on the hood and one on the wrist for a watch. Bloc Magasin says it was created for the Mille Miglia road race in 1988.

Wikipedia says garment dyeing (Tinto in capo) was developed from 1974. The brand's site calls garment dyeing a defining hallmark of its collections and describes its style as a blend of military, workwear and sportswear influences.

Wikipedia lists 50th anniversary collaborations in 2021 with Patta, adidas Spezial, Barbour, Clarks Originals and Emporio Armani, and a 2023 collaboration with Palace Skateboards.

C.P. Company and Stone Island

Tellar describes Stone Island as founded in 1982 by Massimo Osti as a spinoff of C.P. Company, and calls C.P. Company the original innovator. The Clothes Supplier, in a comparison dated 29 August 2025, says Stone Island leans toward bold branding and instantly recognisable badges, while C.P. Company is subtler, with details such as goggle hoods and lens sleeves. That article discloses affiliate links.

Where to buy C.P. Company and what it costs

The brand's site has a country selector and an International Site option, lists delivery in 2-3 days and accepts returns within 14 days of delivery. Wikipedia lists stores in Milan (a flagship, 2019), Amsterdam (September 2020), Riccione (June 2021) and London (2022); the article may be out of date.
