FEAR OF GOD ESSENTIALS

END. says Jerry Lorenzo, whom it calls a Californian native, created the original Fear of God line in 2011. Sources give different years for the original label: Hypebeast's 2018 HB100 profile says he debuted his Fear of God clothing line in 2012, and Business of Fashion's profile refers to the label's launch in 2013. We have not resolved the difference.

Business of Fashion says Lorenzo was born in Sacramento, California, and moved to Los Angeles to obtain an MBA from Loyola Marymount. It also says Fear of God opened its first permanent flagship store in Los Angeles in 2025. None of the sources we opened states a home city for the ESSENTIALS line itself.

Hypebeast says Fear of God broke ground in 2018 with the release of its ESSENTIALS diffusion line and its 6th Collection, and that the collection starred Jared Leto in its lookbook. END. calls ESSENTIALS the subsidiary line launched in 2018, and answers its own question about whether ESSENTIALS is owned by Fear of God with "Yes, FOG is the original Lorenzo label". END. also calls it a competitively priced sister label, quoting Vogue.

Business of Fashion says that, with no external investors, Fear of God is a completely independent label. The page gives no date for that statement, and none of the sources we opened names a parent company or outside owner for ESSENTIALS.

END. lists ESSENTIALS product categories as T-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants (joggers), jackets, knitwear, shorts and women's clothing, and says Lorenzo began offering women's clothing in 2022. It describes a tonal logo at the front and a rubberised applique logo at the rear, and says the latest collection, beginning in 2025, channelled a collegiate spirit with printed crest motifs throughout.

END. describes a collection made with Union LA for Union's 30th anniversary, with tie-dye hoodies and tees, minimal tees, joggers, shorts and caps. Sports Illustrated reported on 19 November 2024 that Fear of God had announced a multi-year partnership with the NBA and WNBA, with a first collection, Fear of God ESSENTIALS for NBA, launching on Fearofgod.com on 20 November and on NBAStore.com and Fanatics on 27 November.

Fear of God's official store lists ESSENTIALS collections for Spring, Summer and Fall 2026 in its menus; the page we opened showed no product prices. In 2019 Hypebae named Nordstrom, Selfridges and IT in store, and Pacsun and SSENSE online, as stockists of the Vintage and Backless Runners.

END. says ESSENTIALS is more accessible in price than the mainline's luxury offerings and gives no product prices; Hypebae likewise says it is known for lower price points than Fear of God products. Breuninger (Netherlands site) listed a light grey ESSENTIALS hoodie at €129.99, with a "best price" of €129.19 and an original price of €189.99, a dark grey T-shirt at €61.99, with a "best price" of €61.19 and an original price of €89.99, and a black oversized hoodie at €249.99 with no original price shown. Solefeed, a store page whose seller type we could not confirm, listed a Jet Black Classic Tee at $80, a Training 90's hoodie in Faded Seal at $175 and Denim 5 Pocket Jeans in Classic Blue at $175, without sale labels or dates. All these listings were checked in October 2026, and they are in different currencies and from different sellers, so they are not a like-for-like comparison.
