Who founded Poliquant
HBX says that, fascinated by Tokyo's street culture at a young age, Junichi Sugita created the brand in early 2016. Sabukaru also says it was founded in 2016 and calls Sugita a Tokyo-born designer. This Thing Of Ours, in a 2021 new-brand post, names the founder as designer Jun Sugita and says he returned from working and studying at various fashion houses in Italy before setting up his own label. HBX and Sabukaru write the first name as Junichi, while This Thing Of Ours and EYE_C write Jun, and the sources do not reconcile the two forms.
A SEALSON product page names designers Jun Sugita and Kazuma Maruyama in its description of the collaboration jacket. We found no source that says who owns or funds the company.
What Poliquant makes
EYE_C's Autumn/Winter 2025 article says outerwear is the label's speciality and lists utility vests, long coats, quilted down jackets and technical shell jackets, naming Pertex for waterproofing and Taion down products. For bottoms it describes lightweight synthetics and drawcords placed in unconventional spots so the wearer can change the shape of the trousers. Sabukaru lists baggy drawstring trousers, some in three-quarter length, multi-use jackets with connecting layers and overshirts with hidden pockets.
The look
HBX says the label combines Japanese craftsmanship with European-style tailoring and fit, and quotes its motto as "POLITE - polish and sophisticated, PIQUANT- coquettish and tempting". EYE_C describes the Autumn/Winter 2025 collection as space-like uniforms reappropriated for urban and outdoor settings, with a function-driven approach and military and outdoor clothing references. Sabukaru calls the pieces unorthodox and rebellious and says the garments are built to handle Japan's harsh climate.
Collaborations
TAION's product page announces its first-ever collaboration with Poliquant, a 4-in-1 modular down system launching for the FW25 season. SEALSON sells a Poliquant x SEALSON versatile functions jacket with a utility bag, and describes Poliquant as a Tokyo-based brand that blends militaristic elements with Japanese heritage.
