Who founded Undefeated

Hypebeast's brand profile states "Founded September 11, 2002" and names James Bond and Eddie Cruz as the founders, with Los Angeles as the home city. Highsnobiety says Undefeated was founded by Bond and Cruz in Los Angeles in 2002. Complex calls Bond and Cruz the shop's owners.

Complex says the store opened its doors on La Brea in 2001, which conflicts with the 2002 year from Hypebeast and Highsnobiety. The sources do not say whether one date is the store opening and the other the company founding.

In his own account, Bond says he worked in music videos before opening K-Bond, a men's haberdashery, and that he and Cruz partnered to turn the idea into a dedicated sneaker store. We did not find a source that says who owns the company today.

What Undefeated makes and sells

Complex describes the original store concept as walls sparsely populated with hard-to-find, limited-edition sneakers.

Undefeated's own site lists jerseys, jackets, cardigans, crewnecks, track pants, rugby shirts, tees and boxer briefs, plus beanies, snapbacks, accessories and Nike, Jordan and adidas footwear. Highsnobiety describes the brand's logo as a tally mark symbolising a series of defeated opponents; Sneaker Freaker refers to a Five Strikes logo on the tongue of a 2013 re-release.

Collaborations

Sneaker Freaker says Undefeated received a Friends and Family white Dunk High from Nike just months after opening, re-released in 2013 with a Five Strikes logo on the tongue. It also says that in 2005 Undefeated became the first sneaker boutique to design an exclusive collaboration with Jordan Brand, a claim it gives without a source.

It lists Nike collaborations including an Air Force 1 Low Inside/Out "Shemagh" made in 500 pairs, a 2016 Dunk High Lux, and a 2018 Kobe 1 Protro released on Mamba Day (24 August). Hypebeast's profile lists recent items including a Nike Air Max 95 city-exclusive pack, a Timberland Field Boot GTX and a Burton collaboration.
