Who is behind Mertra and mertra.com

SNKRDUNK Magazine says Mertra was founded by Aron Williams in Melbourne, Australia, and Man of Many says the same. Our directory also lists Aron Williams as the founder.

The company name is a separate question. The terms page on mertra.com refers to MERTRA as the brand, but it gives no legal entity name, registered address or ABN or ACN, so it does not tell you which company runs the site. We found no other source that names the company, an owner or who runs the business, and we have not guessed one.

When was Mertra founded

Our directory and the press disagree. SNKRDUNK Magazine and Man of Many both say Mertra was founded in 2022. Our directory lists 2020. Neither mertra.com nor its terms page gives a founding date, and we found nothing that settles the difference, so treat the year as unconfirmed.

The Mertra logo

We found no source that explains the Mertra logo or its meaning. The header of mertra.com shows the name as an image with the alt text MERTRA.

What Mertra makes

SNKRDUNK Magazine says the Heat Reactive Puffer Jacket changes colour in response to heat or water, and Man of Many describes Mertra as known for heat and water reactive puffer jackets and shells. Yanko Design reported that the jacket also leaves a hand-shaped pattern when pressed, and that it was set to launch on 29 November through the official website, which SNKRDUNK dates to 2024.

The mertra.com navigation lists Outerwear, Midlayers, Bottoms, Tops, Accessories, Sets and Women, and some items are marked sold out. Umbro describes Mertra as an Australian fashion brand with a disruptive, design-led aesthetic, while our directory describes a minimalist aesthetic focused on high-quality materials and refined silhouettes.

SNKRDUNK and Man of Many also credit the brand with organic cotton, recycled fibres and biodegradable packaging, and say it has shown at London Fashion Week. Neither gives supporting detail, a season or a year, so these are the publications' statements and we have not verified them.

Collaborations and marketing

Umbro's page for the Mertra x Umbro collection describes it as Mertra's first ever collaboration and says it was available through Mertra.com from 31 October 2025. It lists a Technical Jacket, pants, a Water Reactive Jacket, a hoodie, joggers, two T-shirts, a reflective cap and a beanie.

SNKRDUNK says the brand uses Instagram for visual storytelling and runs pop-up events and exclusive online drops, and that UK rapper Ashbeckbaby features prominently in its lookbooks, which the article calls an endorsement.

Where to buy Mertra and what it costs

Mertra sells through mertra.com, with prices listed in AUD. The terms page says MERTRA operates warehouses in Australia and lists warehouses in the UK, the Netherlands and the USA. Man of Many places Mertra in a mid-range price tier, without figures.

When we checked in October 2026, mertra.com listed the Mertrangelo tee at 85.00 AUD, the Heat Map Jacket at 300.00 AUD, the Maple Leaf Jacket and the Seam Tape Jacket at 365.00 AUD each, the Crosscut beanie at 70.00 AUD and a three-pack of boxers at 65.00 AUD. The listings did not label prices as retail or sale and gave no explicit date.

For the Heat Reactive Puffer Jacket, SNKRDUNK said in a 23 November 2024 update that it would retail for US$290, although the same page also said no official pricing had been released. Treat US$290 as one publication's pre-launch figure. Umbro gives a range of £39 to £180 for the Mertra x Umbro collection without saying whether it applies per product or to the whole collection, or whether the prices are retail or sale. These figures are in different currencies and are not a like-for-like comparison.
