Brands like Alife: 6 alternatives, from closest to broadest
The closest matches to Alife, in our view, are Staple, Undefeated and Kith. Hypebeast says Alife was founded in New York in 1999 by four friends. Staple is another New York label from the 1990s, which its About page says Jeff Staple founded in 1997; Undefeated is a Los Angeles sneaker boutique and brand that Hypebeast dates to 2002; and Wikipedia says Kith began as a footwear retailer in New York in 2011.
Alife's own shop sells little at the moment: when we checked in October 2026 its collections page held only the Graffitio Sneakers, all sold out, and Wikipedia says its Rivington Club store closed on 1 April 2021. We have sorted the picks by what you are probably after: the same New York sneaker-culture story, a sneaker shop that became a label, or a collaboration-led label from further afield.

The short answer
-
Closest overall
A New York label from 1997 whose Nike SB Dunk 'Pigeon' Complex dates to March 2005.
-
A sneaker shop that became a brand
Complex describes the original store as sparsely stocked with hard-to-find, limited-edition sneakers.
-
Bigger New York name
Began as a footwear retailer and expanded into streetwear, fashion and lifestyle.
-
Collaboration-led, from Hong Kong
HBX says it has worked with Disney, Nike and adidas, without dates.
-
Sneaker culture from Amsterdam
Complex lists Patta collaborations with adidas, ASICS, Converse and Reebok, and an advisory role on a Nike Air Max 1.
-
Skate-shop roots
Began as a shop in San Francisco and worked on Nike shoes, per Complex.
What 'like Alife' usually means
In our view, alternatives usually offer one or more of three things: the story (a shop-born label tied to sneaker culture), the look (graphic basics and street references) or the collaborations. Few brands deliver all of them.
Interview ties Alife's look to a Lower East Side aesthetic shaped by late-1990s skate culture, graffiti and hip-hop. Hypebeast lists Alife collaborations with Nike, Reebok, adidas, New Balance, Saucony, Timberland, ASICS, Lacoste, Mitchell & Ness, Dickies and Kangol, among others.
We found no current price list for Alife's clothing. In October 2026 the brand's site listed the Graffitio Sneakers at $2,000.00 USD, all sold out; Snobette reported a $70 Velcro strap sandal in August 2020 without naming a currency; and HBX listed a hoodie at £40 on sale from £65 on an undated page. Those differ in item, currency and date, so we do not use them as a yardstick, and the price notes below say 'no like-for-like price' unless they show a real match.
6 brands like Alife, ranked by how close they get
-
#1 · $$
The closest match in our view. Staple's About page says Jeff Staple founded the brand in 1997 and that it is still led by its founder.
What it shares
- A New York label from the late 1990s: Staple dates itself to 1997 and Hypebeast dates Alife to 1999
- Sneaker collaborations: Complex reports that the Staple x Nike SB Dunk 'Pigeon' was released in March 2005, and Hypebeast lists Alife collaborations with Nike, Reebok and adidas, among others
- Graphic-led clothing sold through its own shop: Staple's shop lists a Pigeon Logo Bomber and a Marvin Varsity Jacket, and Complex described Alife's 2013 holiday collection as tees, a crewneck sweatshirt and outerwear
Where it differs
- Hypebeast calls the pigeon graphic now-iconic; Interview ties Alife's look to a Lower East Side aesthetic of skate culture, graffiti and hip-hop
- Staple's web shop lists a full clothing range, where Alife's listed only sold-out sneakers when we checked
- Price vs Alife
- No like-for-like price. Every price we noted on Staple's shop was labelled 'Sale price' with no original price shown, such as the Emb Pigeon Tee at $48 (checked October 2026). We have no Alife tee or hoodie price from its own shop.
- Best for
- A New York label with sneaker-collaboration history and a working web shop.
Emb Pigeon Tee $48 (staplepigeon.com, Oct 2026 (labelled Sale price)) · Marvin Varsity Jacket $360 (staplepigeon.com, Oct 2026 (labelled Sale price)) · Pigeon Logo Bomber Jkt $148 (staplepigeon.com, Oct 2026 (labelled Sale price)) · Pigeon Logo Sweatpant $88 (staplepigeon.com, Oct 2026 (labelled Sale price))

Hypebeast gives Undefeated's founding as 11 September 2002 by James Bond and Eddie Cruz and calls it a 'premium sneaker boutique' with Los Angeles as its home city. Complex says the store opened on La Brea in 2001, so sources differ on the year.
What it shares
- Sneaker-shop roots: Complex describes the original store as walls sparsely populated with hard-to-find, limited-edition sneakers; Alife's Rivington Club was a store at 158 Rivington St. until 1 April 2021
- Nike collaborations: Sneaker Freaker lists Undefeated x Nike releases including a 2018 Kobe 1 Protro, and Hypebeast lists Nike among Alife's collaborators
- Own-label clothing: Undefeated's site lists jerseys, jackets, crewnecks, tees and beanies, and Alife's 2013 holiday collection had tees, a crewneck sweatshirt and outerwear
Where it differs
- Undefeated's site also lists Nike, Jordan and adidas footwear; Alife's shop listed only its own Graffitio Sneakers when we checked
- A tally mark logo, according to Highsnobiety, and a Los Angeles base rather than a New York one
- Price vs Alife
- No like-for-like price. Undefeated's site listed the Aux S/S tee at $45 and the Racing Jacket at $200 as regular prices (checked October 2026); Alife has no tee or jacket price from its own shop to set against them.

Mixmag says Patta was founded in 2004 by Edson Sabajo and Guillaume Schmidt in Amsterdam. Patta's site says the founders started by bringing sneakers and records back from international travel.
What it shares
- Sneaker collaborations: Complex lists Patta collaborations with adidas, ASICS, Converse and Reebok, and dates a Nike Air Max 1 'Amsterdam' to 2005, a project where Patta was in an advisory role; Hypebeast lists Alife collaborations with Nike, Reebok and adidas, among others
- A music link: Patta's site describes Sabajo as a DJ and Schmidt as an MC, and Interview describes Alife's focus shifting toward live music and performance sessions after it moved to Rivington Street
Where it differs

- Patta's site describes the brand as black-owned, and Mixmag quotes Patta's Virgil Chocolaad saying the founders had no outside investors
- Price vs Alife

Boardertown says HUF was founded in 2002 by professional skateboarder Keith Hufnagel, and Complex says it began as a brick-and-mortar shop in San Francisco. HUF's About page says it is now based in Los Angeles.
What it shares
- A shop that became a label: Complex says HUF's original shop became a conduit for emerging brands such as Neighborhood, Original Fake and Supreme; Alife ran its own store on Rivington Street
- Nike work: Complex reports that HUF worked on Nike shoes, including the HUF Blazer, without dates, and Hypebeast lists Nike among Alife's collaborators
Where it differs
- Skate-rooted: founded by a professional skateboarder, and Complex says many know the brand for its Plantlife socks
- HUF's About page lists stores in the United States, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan
- Price vs Alife
- No like-for-like price. The HUF prices we could read were all from the huf x Three 6 Mafia collection, in dollars with no date or sale label: a heavyweight hoodie at $120 and a T-shirt at $45. Those are collaboration pieces, not a guide to HUF's regular range, and Alife has no hoodie or tee price of its own to compare.
- Best for
- Skate-flavoured streetwear from a brand that began as a shop.
huf x Three 6 Mafia Jacket $230 (HUF site, undated, checked Oct 2026) · huf x Three 6 Mafia Heavyweight Hoodie $120 (HUF site, undated, checked Oct 2026) · huf x Three 6 Mafia Most Known Unknown T-Shirt $45 (HUF site, undated, checked Oct 2026) · huf x Three 6 Mafia Snapback Hat $42 (HUF site, undated, checked Oct 2026) · huf x Three 6 Mafia Hypnotize Minds Plantlife Sock $16 (HUF site, undated, checked Oct 2026)

A note on dupes and replicas
We don't list replicas. Alife sells through alifenewyork.com, and HBX, a retailer, has listed Alife products, so those are the clearer routes. We found no source on how Alife handles counterfeits, so we make no claim about it.
A genuine alternative is a different brand with its own designs. The picks above were chosen on that basis: each is a separate brand selling under its own name.
Frequently asked questions
What are the best brands like Alife?
In our assessment, Staple, Undefeated and Kith come closest: labels with sneaker-shop roots or sneaker collaborations. CLOT and Patta are the picks if you want collaboration-led labels from Hong Kong and Amsterdam.
Are there cheaper brands like Alife?
We could not show a clear case. We found no clothing price on Alife's own shop, where only sold-out sneakers were listed in October 2026, and the alternatives list dollars, Hong Kong dollars or euros on different items.
Who founded Alife?
Hypebeast says four friends founded Alife in New York in 1999: Arnaud Delecolle, Tony Arcabascio, Tammy Brainard and Rob Cristofaro. Interview said in June 2019 that Cristofaro was the only one of the four still with the brand.
Is the Alife Rivington Club store still open?
No. Wikipedia, citing Footwear News, says the store at 158 Rivington St. closed on 1 April 2021, and Hypebeast reported the closure on 5 May 2021.
Is there an Alife dupe?
We don't list replicas. Each brand on this page sells under its own name; we do not list replica sellers.
Where can you buy Alife?
Alife sells through alifenewyork.com, where only sold-out sneakers were listed when we checked in October 2026. HBX has also listed Alife products.
How we chose these brands
We shortlisted six brands from the directory whose story, look or collaboration style overlaps with Alife, using only brands whose research records we have completed. Facts such as founding, ownership and prices come from the numbered sources in each brand's research record, opened and checked in October 2026, and the page text was then checked against them by an independent pass. Rankings, 'what it shares' and 'best for' are our editorial judgement: no reputable source we found compares most of these brands to Alife directly. Price comparisons are like for like only where the garment, currency and listing type are comparable; otherwise we say so, and we found no clothing price on Alife's own shop to compare against. Prices are single snapshots from retailers and brand sites and will change.
