Brands like Evisu: 7 alternatives, from Japanese craft labels to graphic basics

The closest matches to Evisu, in our view, are Visvim, Needles and Neighborhood: Japanese labels that reference American clothing. Evisu's own history page says it was founded in Osaka in 1991 and named after the Japanese god of prosperity, Ebisu. NSS Magazine says it was founded by Hidehiko Yamane, who had worked at Lapine, an Osaka store known for importing deadstock Levi's.

Evisu's UK storefront lists prices in pounds, so the price notes below say 'no like-for-like price' unless a real match exists, and for the pounds listings we found (Palace, Carhartt WIP, Born x Raised, Wacko Maria) the items differ. We have sorted the picks by what you are probably after: Japanese craft, graphic streetwear or a workwear route.

What 'like Evisu' usually means

In our view, alternatives usually offer one or more of three things: the denim and workwear heritage, the graphics (painted or embroidered motifs on basics) or the Japanese-label story. Few brands deliver all of them.

NSS Magazine, citing W. David Marx's book Ametora, credits Evisu as the first Japanese denim brand to sell to Americans in a meaningful way. Evisu's UK storefront names the seagull, leopard head embroidery and a Daruma plush keychain among its motifs and products. Its history page lists collaborations with Puma, New Era, Moleskine, Champion, Swarovski, Keith Haring and PALACE Skateboards.

Evisu's UK storefront listed these prices when we checked in October 2026, with no date shown on the page: a Denim Trooper Eagle T-Shirt at £105, a Leopard Head Camouflage Zip-Up Hoodie at £145, Seagull Double-Knee Regular Fit Jeans at £119 and a Leopard Head Embroidered Denim Jacket at £215. The page was undated and notes that prices and currencies may vary.

A note on dupes and replicas

We don't list replicas or sellers of them. We found no source on counterfeit Evisu or on how the brand handles it, so we make no claim about it. What the sources show is where Evisu sells: its UK storefront, which prices in pounds and notes that prices, currencies and assortment may vary. We could not confirm a current store count or store locations.

A genuine alternative is a different brand with its own designs. The picks above were chosen on that basis: each is a separate label selling under its own name.

What is a legit check?

How we chose these brands

We shortlisted seven brands from the directory whose story, craft or look overlaps with Evisu, using only brands whose research records we have completed. Facts such as founding, ownership and prices come from the numbered sources in each brand's research record, opened and checked in October 2026. Rankings, 'what it shares' and 'best for' are our editorial judgement: no reputable source we found compares most of these brands to Evisu directly. Price comparisons are like for like only where the garment, currency and listing type are comparable; otherwise we say so. Prices are single snapshots from retailers and brand sites and will change.
