Brands like Stone Island: 7 alternatives, from closest to cheapest
The closest match to Stone Island, in our view, is C.P. Company. Massimo Osti founded both, the two once sat in one company, Sportswear Company, and Tellar calls Stone Island a spinoff of C.P. Company. After that, WTAPS and Maharishi come closest on the military side, and Arc'teryx on technical outerwear.
For the same garment-and-outerwear mood at a lower price, start with Norse Projects or Carhartt WIP. Their T-shirts are listed in euros at €70 and about €39 to €49, against Stone Island T-shirts from EUR 150 at Breuninger (different retailers, checked October 2026). We do not list replicas.

What 'like Stone Island' usually means
People searching for alternatives tend to want one of three things: the look (sportswear and nautical influences with military-inspired details), the technical, fabric-led outerwear, or the badge and the status that comes with it. Most brands deliver one of these. Few deliver two.
Stone Island was founded in 1982 in Ravarino, Italy, by Massimo Osti. Its removable compass patch shows a wind rose. Moncler announced in December 2020 that it would acquire the brand, valuing it at EUR 1.15 billion. Highsnobiety describes it as one of the labels that came to dominate the football terraces around the turn of the 1990s, and says it is not clear why it became the staple.
On price, END. Canada listed a Patch Logo T-shirt at CA$275 and a Garment Dyed Hoodie at CA$560. Breuninger Netherlands listed T-shirts from EUR 150, piqué polos from EUR 180 and a GHOST Bomber jacket at EUR 895. Those pages were undated, so treat them as checked October 2026. We found no price on the brand's own site, which we could not open.
Which brand suits you depends on which of the three you want. The picks below are ordered from closest to furthest in our judgement, and each says where it differs.
7 brands like Stone Island, ranked by how close they get
-
#1 · $$–$$$$
The closest match, and the brand Stone Island grew out of. The brand's own site says Massimo Osti founded Chester Perry in 1971, renamed C.P. Company in 1978. Tellar describes Stone Island, founded in 1982, as a spinoff of C.P. Company and calls C.P. Company the original innovator.
What it shares
- The same founder, Massimo Osti
- A shared past: Carlo Rivetti and his sister Cristina took control of a company later named Sportswear Company, which owned both brands; Wikipedia says Rivetti combined Stone Island with C.P. Company as Sportswear Company SpA
- A military, workwear and sportswear blend, with garment dyeing among its most significant innovations
- Both are named among the labels that dominated the football terraces around the turn of the 1990s, per Highsnobiety
Where it differs
- The Clothes Supplier (29 August 2025, with affiliate links) says Stone Island leans toward bold branding and instantly recognisable badges, while C.P. Company is subtler, with goggle hoods and lens sleeves
- Different owners: Moncler announced in December 2020 that it would acquire Stone Island; the latest owner we found for C.P. Company is Tristate Holdings Limited, a Hong Kong-based group, from December 2015 per MAM-e
- Price vs Stone Island
- Likely cheaper, but the evidence is thin. In euros, Archivio85 listed a C.P. Company T-shirt at an original €99.95 (sale €79.95, out of stock), against Stone Island T-shirts from EUR 150 at Breuninger; those are different retailers. The Clothes Supplier gives C.P. Company sweaters at £200 to £350 against £250 to £400 for Stone Island, and Tellar gives £200 to £700 for C.P. Company against £250 to £900 for Stone Island without saying which garments they cover, and neither article cites a source for its ranges. The brand's own site lists a Goggle Jacket at £975, and we found no like-for-like Stone Island jacket price in pounds.
- Best for
- The same Osti heritage and garment-dyed, military-sportswear feel with a subtler look.

#2 · $$–$$$$
A Tokyo label built on military-influenced, utilitarian clothing. Highsnobiety refers to nyco and ripstop fabrics and lots of pockets, and END. says Tetsu Nishiyama built it on disciplined, military-coded design, translating field uniforms and outdoor gear into menswear.
What it shares
- Military references: Wikipedia describes Stone Island's military-inspired details, and WTAPS's early collections leaned on olive drab, camouflage and ripstop per Heddels
- Field jackets featured in early collections and the M-65 is an archetypal WTAPS piece, per Heddels
Where it differs
- Emerged from Tokyo's Ura-Harajuku movement, arriving just after peers such as NEIGHBORHOOD, BAPE and UNDERCOVER, per END.; its signatures include GPS coordinates, a sickle logo and a crossbones motif
- Distribution is narrower: Highsnobiety says it opened its first and only flagship, GIP-Store, in 2011 and until very recently sold only out of its showroom; we did not confirm whether wtaps.com sells online
- Price vs Stone Island
- Similar for basics, in euros. Overkill listed a WTAPS BDY 01 cotton T-shirt at €155 and a Ghill sweater at €179, against Stone Island T-shirts from EUR 150 and piqué polos from EUR 180 at Breuninger. Those are different retailers and different garments, so we would call them comparable rather than cheaper. StockX lists retail prices of $125 for the Vans Vault hoodie and $150 for the New Balance long-sleeve tee, but those are collaborations in dollars.
- Best for
- Military-coded Japanese streetwear at similar prices, without the badge.
Vans Vault x WTAPS hoodie (Smokey Olive) $125 (StockX retail price, released Dec 2022) · WTAPS x New Balance Academy long-sleeve T-shirt (Heather Grey) $150 (StockX retail price, released Aug 2021) · BDY 01 cotton T-shirt (pink) €155 (Overkill, Oct 2026) · Ghill sweater (black) €179 (Overkill, Oct 2026) · SDDT2001 ripstop trousers (olive drab) €235 (Overkill, Oct 2026) · Standard Supply x WTAPS hanging pouch €69 (Overkill, Oct 2026) · Pertex x WTAPS T-7 cap €95 (Overkill, Oct 2026)

#3 · $$–$$$$
A London label founded in 1994 by Hardy Blechman, who began by buying and selling military surplus. The brand's About page describes camouflage reflecting a pacifist reinterpretation of military aesthetics.
What it shares
- Military references, with camouflage and the Snopants, which began as an upcycled version of the U.S. Army Snow Camouflage Over Trousers
- Fabric development: the Stuarts London blog says the Italian textile manufacturer ITS Artea, which worked with Hardy Blechman on material development, had previously worked with Osti on C.P. Company and Stone Island
Where it differs
- Hemp, organic cotton and upcycled military fabrics, with a free lifetime repair service; the stated message is pacifist, where Stone Island's details are military-inspired
- We did not find a source that says who owns Maharishi; Stone Island was announced as a Moncler acquisition in December 2020
- Price vs Stone Island
- No like-for-like price. END. US listed the Alaskan Polar Bears T-shirt at $115 and Hemp M65 Cargo Pants at $295 ($162 on sale); Stone Island's tees were quoted in Canadian dollars and euros. Many Maharishi listings were sale prices at one retailer.
- Best for
- Military-surplus-derived design with a hemp and upcycling angle.
Alaskan Polar Bears T-shirt (black) $115 (END., Oct 2026) · Organic Logo T-shirt (Olive OG-107F) $79 ($43 sale) (END., Oct 2026) · Hemp M65 Cargo Pants (black) $295 ($162 sale) (END., Oct 2026) · Maha Peace Rally MA2 jacket (olive/khaki) $589 ($265 sale) (END., Oct 2026) · Year of the Fire Kirin Snopants (black) $519 ($311 sale) (END., Oct 2026) · Temple M Okinawa 6 Panel Cap (olive) $115 ($58 sale) (END., Oct 2026)

Wikipedia describes Arc'teryx as outdoor apparel for mountaineering and alpine sports. It began in 1989 in North Vancouver as Rock Solid and was renamed Arc'teryx in 1991, per Wikipedia. The brand's site labels it an Amer Sports brand.
What it shares
- Technical outerwear: Wikipedia credits Jason Chen with introducing the term gorpcore in The Cut in 2017
- A luxury streetwear line, Veilance, founded in 2009 per Wikipedia
- Streetwear collaborations, including a Palace capsule labelled FW20 by Highsnobiety
Where it differs
- Outdoor-first, with no military or nautical heritage in the sources we opened
- Different owners: Amer Sports, against Moncler for Stone Island, per its December 2020 acquisition announcement
- Price vs Stone Island
- No like-for-like price. A March 2025 OutdoorGearLab review gave the Beta SL jacket a list price of $500 USD. The Cormac Hoodie was CA$100 at evo (sold out), against a CA$560 Garment Dyed Hoodie at END. Canada, but these are different hoodies at different retailers, so the comparison is only indicative. We found no Stone Island shell jacket priced in US dollars.
- Best for
- Technical mountain outerwear that has crossed into streetwear.

A Japan-exclusive line that Hypebeast describes as an imprint of The North Face, blending casual wear with technical fabrics in a more fashion-forward style. Goldwin's history dates the start of Purple Label sales to 2003.
What it shares
- Technical fabrics worn as casual clothing, in a style Houyhnhnm calls urban outdoor
- Upcycling and limited runs with nanamica, per Highsnobiety
Where it differs
- Hard to get unless you are in Japan; Gear Patrol reported in 2016 that it was available only there
- Owner Goldwin holds the exclusive rights to sell The North Face in Japan and South Korea, per Highsnobiety; the exact legal structure is not stated
- Sourced prices are in yen, and we found no priced hoodie
- Price vs Stone Island
- No like-for-like price. On the nanamica store the 7oz Field Long Sleeve Pocket Tee was ¥13,200 and the Corduroy Field Down Jacket ¥69,300. Stone Island prices we found are in Canadian dollars and euros, and we do not convert.
- Best for
- Quiet, fabric-led Japanese outdoor wear, if you can source it.

#6 · $$–$$$$
A Copenhagen label that Wikipedia says was founded in 2004 as a retail streetwear shop and art gallery. Wikipedia describes it as blending influences from streetwear and classical workwear with high-end fashion.
What it shares
- A functional aesthetic, per Lex.dk
- Technical outerwear: the official site lists Core and Gore-Tex collections and describes outerwear built to move between overshirt and jacket
- Collaborations on adidas and New Balance silhouettes in 2017, per Highsnobiety, as Wikipedia lists Adidas and New Balance among Stone Island's collaborators
Where it differs
- Scandinavian simplicity and Nordic minimalism rather than military or nautical details
- We found no heritage link to Stone Island in the sources we opened, and could not find who owns Norse Projects
- Price vs Stone Island
- Cheaper on basics, in euros, but not strictly like for like. END. listed the Standard T-Shirt at €70, the Standard Hoodie at €225 and the Arresskov Compact Cotton Shirt Jacket at €265, against Stone Island T-shirts from EUR 150 at Breuninger (different retailers, undated, checked October 2026). The Holmen Wax Jacket was €326 on sale from €435. We found no Norse Projects price that matches the Stone Island GHOST Bomber at EUR 895.
- Best for

Established in 1994 by Edwin Faeh, according to the brand's newsroom, which describes it as a clothing brand that adapts and modifies the core products of the American workwear brand Carhartt. HBX calls it the streetwear version of Carhartt.
What it shares
- A utilitarian aesthetic, which the brand's US about page links to adoption by rappers, graffiti writers and corner boys
- Collaborations with Nike, Junya Watanabe, Fragment Design and others, as Stone Island lists Adidas, Supreme, Nike and others
Where it differs
- Workwear heritage rather than sportswear, nautical or military details
- Wide retail: over 100 stores across Europe, Asia and the US
- Price vs Stone Island
- Cheaper on T-shirts, in euros, but not strictly like for like. Urban Industry listed the Bronson T-shirt at €48.95 and the Hot Rat T-shirt at €38.95 on sale, against Stone Island T-shirts from EUR 150 at Breuninger (different retailers and designs, checked October 2026). Many Carhartt WIP prices we found were sale prices; we found no like-for-like Carhartt WIP price for the Stone Island GHOST Bomber at EUR 895.
- Best for
- The cheapest way into the workwear-sportswear mood, if the badge matters less.

A note on dupes and replicas
We don't list replicas, and we don't link to sellers of them. Highsnobiety's 2017 guide says eBay and Facebook Marketplace are full of fake Stone Island jackets and that counterfeit sites sell items 65 percent off retail. It said a new jacket advertised at GBP 100 was not going to be real, since new jackets started at GBP 350 or more; that figure is from 2017 and is probably out of date.
The same guide says all garments produced from SS14 onwards use Certilogo technology to verify authenticity, and says newer labels carry a scannable QR code, though it does not say every garment has one. A genuine alternative is a different brand with its own designs; the brands above are chosen on that basis.
Frequently asked questions
What are the best brands like Stone Island?
In our assessment, C.P. Company is the closest, because Massimo Osti founded both. WTAPS and Maharishi come closest on the military side, and Arc'teryx and The North Face Purple Label on technical outerwear.
Are there cheaper brands like Stone Island?
Yes, on basics, in euros. END. listed a Norse Projects Standard T-Shirt at €70 and Urban Industry listed Carhartt WIP T-shirts at €38.95 to €48.95, against Stone Island T-shirts from EUR 150 at Breuninger. These are different retailers, checked October 2026. We found no like-for-like price for Maharishi, Arc'teryx or The North Face Purple Label.
Is C.P. Company the same as Stone Island?
No. Both were founded by Massimo Osti, but MAM-e says Sportswear Company separated the two brands and sold C.P. Company in 2010. Stone Island is a Moncler brand, with the acquisition announced in December 2020.
Who owns Stone Island?
Moncler. Business of Fashion reported that Moncler announced in December 2020 that it would acquire the brand, valuing it at EUR 1.15 billion, and Wikipedia says the deal completed on 31 March 2021. The Industry reported that Moncler's Remo Ruffini said the two brands would remain independent.
Why is Stone Island so expensive?
We found no published pricing rationale from Stone Island, and no source that explains how it sets prices. What the sources show: T-shirts from EUR 150 and a GHOST Bomber at EUR 895 at Breuninger, and a CA$560 Garment Dyed Hoodie at END. Canada.
Is there a Stone Island dupe?
We don't list replicas. Highsnobiety's guide warns about counterfeits on marketplace sites. We found no brand on this page that sells Stone Island designs.
How we chose these brands
We started from the directory's brands and shortlisted seven whose look, heritage or product overlaps with Stone Island, using a taxonomy of style, lineage and price plus editorial judgement. Facts such as founding, ownership, materials and prices come from the numbered sources below. Each cited source was opened in October 2026 where it could be reached and the claims were checked against it; claims we could not confirm were reworded or removed. The nanamica online store, behind some Purple Label prices, returned an error when we re-checked it. Rankings, 'what it shares' and 'best for' are our editorial judgement: apart from the Tellar and Clothes Supplier comparisons of C.P. Company, we found no reputable source that compares these brands to Stone Island directly. Price comparisons are like for like only where the currency and garment are comparable; where retailers or garments differ, as in the T-shirt comparisons, we say so. The table's 'Silver jewelry' column reads 'Not found' where our research found no silver line. Prices are single snapshots from retailers and brand sites and will change.
